Balboa Park is a 1,200-acre historic urban cultural park.  There are many historic buildings and it has been named a National Historic Landmark.  There is plenty to see and do for the entire family.   

There are numerous museums and beautiful cultural gardens.  If you are hungry, you will enjoy unique eateries throughout the park.  It is a casual environment to relax and enjoy!

Coronado Island

Coronado Island is the small piece of land directly off San Diego.  North Island Naval Air Station occupies about half the Island.

The historic Hotel Del Coronado was the largest resort in the world when it opened in 1888 and has hosted everyone from Marilyn Monroe to Prince Edward.

Gaslamp Quarter

The GASLAMP QUARTER is a lively downtown neighborhood popular for the unique boutiques, lounges and restaurants. Definitely a special shopping experience with a lot of interesting places to visit.

 

You’ll find every type of cuisine in the GASLAMP QUARTER and options are plentiful for al fresco dining on the sidewalks of this historical district.

La Jolla Beaches

LA JOLLA COVE is a beautiful beach great for snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking and swimming.  Surrounded by cliffs and full of rich marine life. 

LA JOLLA SHORES BEACH is a gorgeous beach with cliffs and rock formations. This is a very popular beach in Northern La Jolla.  There is a large park with a grassy area and a playground.

Point Loma Lighthouses

THE OLD LIGHTHOUSE Construction began in 1854. The lantern and lens had to be ordered from Paris, France. The lighthouse was completed and put into operation from 1855 until 1891.

 

THE NEW LIGHTHOUSE replaced the Old Lighthouse in 1891.  The light was automated in 1973.  Today the lighthouse is no longer in service but stands as a landmark and museum. Visitors may enter the lighthouse and view parts of the living quarters there.  

San Diego Bay Sightseeing

The Coronado Flagship Ferry has been here for more than 100 years.  It is a fun ride across San Diego Bay.  You go right by the NAS North Island and the view of downtown is spectacular! 

 

Flagship Cruises has many wonderful harbor and dinner cruises.  You can even go under the Coronado Bridge.

 

Then there is Hornblower dinner and site seeing cruises.  Great food and excitement for the entire family.

San Diego Zoo

The 100 acre SAN DIEGO ZOO houses more than 3,500 animals of more than 650 species and subspecies.

There are more exhibits than you can see in one day.  You can even ride a train if you are not up to walking on that day.  Fun for the whole family!

San Diego Safari Park

The San Diego Safari Park immerses you in an active, hands-on safari experience where herds of animals roam natural habitats in a vast reserve. Choose from a variety of exciting safari expeditions by caravan truck, cart, zip line—there’s even an overnight option.

Come explore 50-plus diverse shops, 13 unique eateries and outdoor entertainment.  The shops include a Chocolate Shop and a Kite Shop.

USS Midway Museum

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore a historic aircraft carrier.  Activities for all ages including self-guided audio tours, theater, flight simulators, climb-in aircraft, ejection seats and cockpits, guided tours of the bridge and more. Lots of exciting fun and a gorgeous view!
